San Antonio Spring Break

We had a wonderful three night stay in San Antonio for spring break this year.

We got there mid-day on Saturday and let the kids run wild for a bit at Yanaguana Garden and Playground.  The park was amazing!  They loved the splash pad.

Then we grabbed a pizza at Dough for lunch and icecream at Paleteria; both were right beside the park. Mabel got back into the sandpit and water so needed another outfit change.

We walked through La Villita on our way to the Riverwalk.

We quickly walked down the river and briefly stopped at the Alamo.  I was overheated at this point, so we headed to our Airbnb just north of downtown and ordered dinner in.  I didn't get any pictures of the house we stayed in, but it was a great little 2 bed/ 2 bath cottage in Tobin Hill.  It worked out great for our stay.

The next morning, we rode the train through Brackenridge Park.

From the train, we hiked across the park to Kiddie Park.  We loved this place!  It was cheap and the kids had a great time on the old timey rides.

After naps, we headed to the Chinese Tea Garden with Debbie (who drove up to join us for the day).  Poor Matilda had taken Benadryl before her nap, and was in terrible sorts for the trip to the garden.  She was so worried about getting stung by bees.

We headed to the Pearl District for more splash pad time and dinner at Down on Grayson.

The next morning we got breakfast at CommonWealth Coffeehouse before heading to the DoSeum.

My parents met us at the DoSeum.  The kids had a great time (but honestly the Kiddie Park was probably more fun for the $.)

After naps, we were going to go to the Botanical Garden, but decided to have a slower afternoon and just walked to San Pedro Springs Park instead. Along the way (and afterwards), Matilda and Jason found out they love electrical scooters.  We did a quick dinner at a Mexican restaurant near the house before my parents headed home.

The next morning, Matilda and Jason rode a scooter downtown to Schilo's where we had a breakfast before heading back on the road.

On the way back to Houston, we stopped at Palmetto State Park.  The girls started out grouchy, but were happy once they had a chance to dip their feet into the San Marcos River.

Overall, it was a great trip!  We had a good time in the city and there was so many activities to do with the girls.
