Pecan Tree

Don't despair... our pecan tree has not died!  Hooray!  Jump for joy!

Oh, what is that you say?  That you weren't worried about our pecan tree?

Huh... well I sure was.  It was nearly the only tree in the neighborhood that wasn't covered in green leaves.  I was getting so worried that we lost it in the drought.  Jason was convinced we did.

But, if you squint really hard, you can see the small buds at the ends of the limbs.

Can you see them?

Hooray for our only tree!

We live in Idylwood and thought the exact same thing. In early March NPR was covering higher pollen counts in the air and said that it was partially due to early the early polination of pecan trees. Well, our tree was still dormant, so we thought it was dead. While out at night about the same day you posted the picture we first noticed the buds. Now we have full coverage and even tons of pollen. Glad it didn't die. We understand your worry. :)

We heard that NPR story too. My allergies have been terrible since early February with all of the live oak and grass pollen (gotta love when the entire house and cars are covered with the yellow pollen.) Glad your pecan tree made it as well!
