Two Years Old!

Matilda has turned two and is oh-so-fun!  Tons of pictures in this post.  I think this will be her last quarterly check-in post.  I'll try to get better about posting as we do things, instead of saving 3-months of pictures and stories.

Stats: Still a tiny one at 21 pounds 8 ounces (9th percentile) and 32.7 inches tall (19th percentile).

Mind you those are on the WHO charts; she's been off the CDC weight chart for the past year.

Wears mostly 18 month clothes.

Has 12 teeth plus 2-4 canines.  Is it bad I'm not sure how many?

Sleep: Pretty much the same.  Goes to bed around 7:30 pm and wakes between 6:30-7 am.  Usually sleeps through the night.

One pretty good nap (1.5-3 hours) during the day.

We recently moved her floor bed up to a toddler bed.  She's been doing good with it.  We wanted to get her a low profile twin bed, but were having a hard time finding one.  Jason and his friend eventually might try to build one instead.

Eat: No huge changes.  Still a semi-picky eater.  Still prefers fruits and veggies.

Likes chicken, but still doesn't eat a ton of other meat.  She's borderline anemic again, so we'll likely start the iron supplements again.

Loves sushi.  She likes the edamame, gyoza, and salmon roe.

Loves smoothies (which she calls "foobies") and discovered she likes icing/ cake at her second birthday party.  I think we've done a decent job at limiting sweets to this point (except for fruit, teddy grahams, and Honey Bunches of Oats cereal), so I guess a little sugar here and there won't hurt her.

Play/ Milestones: Tons of language development and starting to string words together.

She's also started using her potty more (about 50%) of the time.  She got really interested in it a few weeks before her 2nd birthday.  Some days it's pretty hit or miss, but we'll slowly get there.

She also tries to dress herself and can put her shoes on by herself (even though she's currently in a stage where she wants to be mostly barefoot).  In the past couple of weeks, she's very much started the "I do it" and "me, me!" phase where she doesn't want our help with certain things.

Still loves her books.  She started hording books in her bed at naptimes and nighttime, so we've just starting leaving a book or two with her once we put her down for her to "read".

Still loves music.  She's on her third semester of music class and looks forward to it every week.  Jason says she's getting really good about trying to follow along with the teacher and dance/ sing along.

Still loves going to the zoo and reading about animals.

Still loves being outside.  Enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt this year as well as a few camping trips over the past couple of months.  Every evening when I get home, we walk to the park to hang out for awhile while Jason cooks dinner.  It's a nice way to spend my evenings.

Still loves people, babies, kids, etc.  Very much a social child.  If she's being cranky at home, we know it's time to get out so she can be around other people.  It usually makes her happy.

Has recently started some neat imaginative play.  She likes her Montessori-ish activities like matching games and stringing beads, but also likes open-ended play like Legos, blocks, and cars.  The other day she was making her Toob animals ride her choo-choo train, and I thought it was adorable.

Hip Dysplasia/ Leg Update: No update here.  Still in the brace at night and she'll have her next x-rays and appointment in June.
